Who We Are

Blended Learning and Study Center (BLSC) is a growing network of private online and blended early post-secondary education-prep and career-readiness Centers founded to address the inequities in education through closing three interrelated achievement gaps – the academic achievement gap (accentuated by seat time and traditional education requirements gap for earning a high school diploma), college-prep gap, and corporate and career experience gaps.

What is Career Readiness?

“There is an often-confusing mix of definitions, discussion posts, frameworks, policies and implementation strategies for career readiness. Some viewpoints center around learning skills for a specific entry-level job, while others define career readiness as a broader understanding of workplace skills. Still other definitions focus on knowledge and skills for a particular industry sector such as health sciences or marketing. Career readiness is a convergence of all of these definitions.

A career-ready person effectively navigates pathways that connect education and employment to achieve a fulfilling, financially-secure and successful career. A career is more than just a job. Career readiness has no defined endpoint. To be career ready in our ever-changing global economy requires adaptability and a commitment to lifelong learning, along with mastery of key academic, technical and workplace knowledge, skills and dispositions that vary from one career to another and change over time as a person progresses along a developmental continuum. Knowledge, skills and dispositions that are inter-dependent and mutually reinforcing.” (https://order-essays.com/careerreadynow-org/)

We promise every student (based on following BLSC track) – admission to selective post secondary institutions, graduation in less than four years with little to no financial burden, and preparedness to start a career.

The work in BLSC is demanding – it is a tremendous investment of time, energy and discipline but the return on investment is to attain your zenith potential.

BLSC APPROACH TO CURRICULUM Today’s modern educational system follows a progressive curriculum that begins in pre-elementary school and finishes in graduate or postgraduate school. Students that receive instruction through such an educational system are able to learn the full academic content of each subject or discipline in an orderly way. However, with such a systematic approach to instruction, students can study for twenty years yet learn very little about the connection between the academic contents and specific disciplines and careers. More importantly, such systematic approach fail to recognize differences among students’ cognitive levels thereby constricting education to seat-time requirements. Consequently, students are ill-prepared to meet the challenges of the 21st century workforce.

At BLSC we hope to stop the failure of this model of progressive approach to education, by systematically leading each student forward each year towards becoming prepared and qualified for his/her potential career.

In BLSC, students progress through courses based on adaptive learning models whereby each concept builds upon prior concepts. Students at lower cognitive or academic levels have to achieve mastery of a concept before being exposed to concepts and contents at more advanced levels. Hence, although the subject can be the same, the instruction, content, and topic might be different. Nevertheless, all students, irrespective of their academic or cognitive level are exposed to career-specific contents and workplaces.

In BLSC, we lead students, not merely individually but with all BLSC members, learning and serving together. BLSC students help each other; and those who receive help can then render help to others. In this way, all students will serve in BLSC, and the function of each member will become the niche of that member in BLSC(Adopted from The Priesthood and God’s Building Chapter 15 by Witness Lee)
