In FLL Jr. teams of 6 students work on a challenge that is announced in August. This challenge has them explore a topic, this year it is called Mission Moon. They then build a LEGO model based on the challenge using a programmable motor to move a mechanism in their model. Teams put together a poster and bring their projects to a regional expo to share. In FLL Jr. teams of 6 students work on a challenge that is announced in August. We can register more teams based on the number of students that sign up through the season pass option, which costs $299 if we would need multiple teams. Once registered, we can purchase kits. The starter We Do kit is $270 and can be reused each year. I do not know how fast the starter Kit would be shipped but once we have it our students could learn to program with the included exercises.
During the season teams typically meet once a week for 1-2 hours for 6-12 weeks. We plan to start the season early, after school is out in June. Most likely the first week of July.
We meet at Blended Learning and Study Center (799 Silver Lane, Trumbull) during the times that is convenient with most parents. This would allow us to get ahead with the exercises.
FLL is a more mature version of the FLL Jr. and would be for the students in or advancing to grade 4 or above. It uses Mindstorm robots, has a more intensive project portion, and typically meets more often.
